Laura and Coach Pimm have been, and are going to be, conducting workshops at the Running Room in Port Credit. A few weeks ago Laura gave a well-received presentation on the place, techniques and value of massage for runners. Meanwhile, Peter will appear at the same store on 3 upcoming dates: On Sept. 13, he's conducting a session on Running Form to the 5 km Clinic. And on Sept. 16 and 23, he will be advising on How to Set a Reasonable Race Goal to the 10 km. and Half Marathon groups respectively. If you are interested in such workshops for your group, don't hesitate to contact us. Add Comment Coach Pimm - now on Skype 08/26/2011
Gotta love technology !! ... to better serve clients, no matter where their location, Coach Pimm is pleased to announce that he is now available to communicate using Skype. So now clients can talk directly to a face that arguably might be better suited for radio, while discussing their workout results and receiving their next customized series of workouts. Of course this does mean Coach Pimm will need to give greater attention to his wardrobe... Armed with his trusty Jones Counter, Coach Pimm recently measured out a very flat 5 km. route for the 2nd annual B&O YORKVILLERUN happening on Sunday September 18, 2011. The route has been certified by Athletics Canada, and promises to be a fast one. Billed as “Toronto’s premier boutique race”, it starts and finishes in the heart of Toronto’s trendiest shopping venue, and registrants receive technical t-shirts, high-end custom made medals….. AND, get this: FREE apres-race hors d’oevres from some of Yorkville’s finest restaurants. YUMMERS!! This should be LEGENDARY. The event is a fundraiser for the YWCA Elm Centre which will be an innovative residential community located in the heart of downtown Toronto (corner of Elm and Elizabeth). Currently under construction, the Elm Centre will have 300 affordable apartments for single low-income women, women with children, women living with mental health and addiction issues and families of Aboriginal ancestry. Hope to see you there. Due to construction around the Square One Shopping Centre, race organizers of the 2011 Mississauga Marathon/Half Marathonrecently had to implement what is a very slight change to the first 2 km. Coach Pimm was hired to remeasure the route and apply for re-certification, and is pleased to advise that certification has been granted, so the marathon can serve nicely as a Boston qualifier. So all the best to those going for it !! Here's a map showing the first 2 km. of the new route. Associate, Laura Pimm, is now offering sports/therapeutic massage at a new location to better serve the Toronto downtown folks, be they readying themselves for, or recovering from a road race, or for folks just wanting keep the chasis in excellent working order. The new location is located in the Yorkville district, 100 meters due west of the Four Seasons hotel, on Prince Arthur Avenue.....dangerously close to the finest clothing boutiques, eateries, and shops, that Canada has to offer....yes, and even Winners.... And, if you’re finding this winter a tad too chilling, pamper yourself with Hot Stone therapy....also a great gift idea. For more information, or to make an appointment, go here. Hey Runners – For those of you close by to Toronto, who want to test how their winter training has been going, there’s a nice 5 km. opportunity being presented on Sunday March 13, 2011: the 12th Annual Achilles St. Patrick's Day 5K Run/Walk...and, even better, those of you who are of age can enjoy a fine brewsky afterwards manufactured by Toronto’s own Steam Whistle Brewing company, located at the base of the CN Tower. And while sipping or guzzling your 1 or 4 brews, you can enjoy the fine entertainment of the Birling who’s music includes fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitars, harmonica, all complemented by wonderful singing. I had the pleasure of measuring this certified fun, 5 km.(map below) which is basically, a flat, out and back route, starting at 10:15 a.m.…..nice to cheer each other while on either side of Wellington and, in keeping with the day, Race Director, Brian McLean, says, “ we always try to encourage our participants to wear green and come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day while having a pint of Steam Whistle beer after your race.” And it’s all for a terrific cause as the event raises funds for Achilles Canada, a non-rofit organization that provides people with various disabilities an opportunity to receive the physical, psychological and communal benefits of running. The mission of Achilles Canada is to empower athletes, through running or walking, to take control of their health, to increase their self-confidence, to become more involved in the mainstream world, and to reach their full potential.
