The 5th Annual B&O Yorkville Run is a unique "boutique", 5K race that unites local runners and businesses to raise funds for local charities. The run provides a a very special experience to its 1,000 participants — from its high-end race kit, to its oversized finishers medals and après-run hors d'oeuvres served by white-gloved waiters, courtesy of Yorkville restaurants.
Since its inception in 2010, the B&O Yorkville Run has raised more than $200,000 for YWCA Toronto’s women’s shelters.
Although registration is full there is another item of interest for spectators as it is also including the Canadian 5 K Road Race Championship featuring 200 of the country’s best-in-class runners, including Olympic and Pan American Games contenders, to compete for the title and a total of $8,000 in prize money.
This championship race starts at 9:00 a.m. and will run the same fast course as the B&O Yorkville Run, which was named the fastest 5K road race in Canada between 2010 and 2013, attracting the country's best runners, including Wesley Korir, who placed first in the 2012 Boston Marathon, and the 2009 and 2010 L.A. Marathons.
The Canadian 5K Road Race Championship is sanctioned by Athletics Canada, the national governing body for track and field, road running and cross country.
