There was a threat of rain as the day began, but it kindly held off; and so almost 300 registered guests showed up to enjoy the fun and excitement offered by an array of event options including 1 mile and 4 x 400 relay races, a yoga class, free massage provided by Trillium College, supervised by Laura Pimm.
And the Ryerson University Cheerleaders joined in and provided a very entertaining display of their athletic prowess.
The track events were a load of fun with a wide community representation from 3 year old youngsters to recreational runners, to office workers arm twisted in to running on the mixed relay teams, to national level runners from track clubs.
Ivivva, which is a yoga inspired athletic brand for girls, had several relay teams made up of youngsters ….they provided great entertainment and sometimes comic relief as some of them swerved rather than run in a straight line, which really upped the decibel levels of the cheering spectators.
Afterwards, folks were grateful to Carlsberg Brewery who sponsored the Beer Garden providing free beer and cider which made for an excellent atmosphere and opportunity for relaxation and socializing.
And thanks to our bartenders from Toronto pubs, Gabby’s and Parlour, who were kept busy throughout the event which started at 5:00 p.m. and continued to 9:30 p.m. under the bright lights of the football field.
