Although the route is not being being submitted for Athletics Canada certification, the Coach used a calibrated Jones Counter in order to guarantee an the distance and km. locations are accurate. Let's just say it's "Pimm Certified". This year's route takes you through the streets of Downtown Toronto, beginning at Coronation Park, and ending at Ontario Place with the Renee & Irwin Nadal Festival. UJA's Run with Israel takes place alongside UJA's Walk with Israel, this event is the largest solidarity Walk and fundraiser in support of the people of Israel in North America. Every dollar raised from this fundraising event goes directly to support the people of Israel through UJA's programs and services. UJA's Run with Israel is paid for through corporate sponsorship, so 100% of the funds raised are allocated to UJA's partner communities in Sderot, Bat Yam, and the Eilat/Eilot region. Laura helped celebrate International Women's Day as a guest at the West Niagara Second Stage Housing & Counselling in Beamsville Ontario. West Niagara Second Stage Housing & Counselling began in 1996 by a group of local women. Among them were doctors, nurses, and teachers who identified a need in the community for services to help women who have experienced abuse.
The organization helps women and children in the area of Grimsby, Lincoln, & West Lincoln in their journey to a life free from violence and abuse. At the event, Laura provided greatly appreciated 10 minute massages for the attendees. Don't hesitate to contact Laura if you want to add such a service to your group gatherings. This year marks the 22nd edition of Toronto's Pride and Rembrance Run 5 km. And as an added feature to the event, the race organizers have commissioned Coach Pimm to measure the very attractive route, which encircles Queen's Park, in order to obtain Certification from Athletics Canada. And the other exciting news is that Ontario Masters Athletics (OMA) has selected the race to serve as the 2017 OMA 5 km. Championship. The Run is the largest event of its kind in Canada and is among the most popular running events in the Toronto area. Over the years, Pride Run participants have raised over $1,000,000 for LGBTQ Charities.
