That's right - Peter has been contracted by an American entertainment company, Reelsports Solutions Inc., to work on a movie called  "Bhag Milkha Bhag" - see here for a description of the film.

The film is inspired by the life story one of India's greatest 400 metre athletes, Milkha Singh, who won the 1958 Commonwealth Games and placed 4th at the 1960 Rome Olympics. His life story is truly remarkable and inspirational and here's a mini-bio.

This commission will require the Coach being on site in New Delhi for the first 3 weeks of April, while stufffing his belly with the local dishes - coincidentally Indian is his fav food.

Peter's responsibilities include:
- recruiting and managing 8-10 of Canada's faster athletes
- overseeing the athletes' workouts
- reviewing the script
- contributing to the story board
- choreographing several track races, the majority of which are being shot at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which was used for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The Coach previously worked with Reelsports in a similar capacity on the ESPN movie, Four Minutes, a 2005 made-for-TV film about Roger Bannister breaking the 4 minute mile in 1954, which starred recent Oscar-winning Christopher Plummer.

While away, Peter will be set up to insure he is able to maintain his regular coaching communications with clients in his private practice via email, phone and Skype.

And between now and then Coach Pimm is happy to take on new clients, who are looking forward to testing their mettle in the upcoming road races.

Coach Pimm will be putting his trusty Jones Counter in to action to accurately measure a new very flat and scenic route for the Mercedes-Benz Oakville 10km, happening on Sunday April 15, 2012. (Update March 24/12 - the route has now been certified by Athletics Canada.)

Starting and finishing on the sprawling park-like campus of 101-year old Appleby College, this beautiful newly designed route will traverse through picturesque downtown Oakville and includes stunning views of Lake Ontario.

The Mercedes-Benz Oakville 10K is a day in support of the
Oakville Community Foundation and designed to accommodate the whole family. Activities include a 10K Run/Power-walk, a 5K Run/Power-walk, a 1-kilometre Junior Jog and a 300-metre toddler trot.

This year, by random bib draw, one lucky 10K finisher (25 years or older) will have the opportunity to choose between a year of thrills with a 1-year lease of a Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe or a summer of fun with a 4-month lease of a Mercedes-Benz SLK.

Hmmmm...... we do like the sounds of a 1-year lease of a Mercedes.

Laura and Coach Pimm have been, and are going to be, conducting workshops at the Running Room in Port Credit.

A few weeks ago Laura gave a well-received presentation on the place, techniques and value of massage for runners.

If you are interested in such workshops for your group, don't hesitate to contact us.

Gotta love technology !!

... to better serve clients, no matter where their location, Coach Pimm is pleased to announce that he is now available to communicate using Skype.

So now clients can talk directly to a face that arguably might be better suited for radio, while discussing their workout results and receiving their next customized series of workouts.

Of course this does mean Coach Pimm will need to give greater attention to his wardrobe...

Armed with his trusty Jones Counter, Coach Pimm recently measured out a very flat 5 km. route for the 2nd annual B&O YORKVILLERUN happening on Sunday September 18, 2011. The route has been certified by Athletics Canada, and promises to be a fast one.

Billed as “Toronto’s premier boutique race”, it starts and finishes in the heart of Toronto’s trendiest shopping venue, and registrants receive technical t-shirts, high-end custom made medals….. AND, get this: FREE apres-race hors d’oevres from some of Yorkville’s finest restaurants. YUMMERS!! This should be LEGENDARY.

The event is a fundraiser for the YWCA Elm Centre which will be an innovative residential community located in the heart of downtown Toronto (corner of Elm and Elizabeth).

Currently under construction, the Elm Centre will have 300 affordable apartments for single low-income women, women with children, women living with mental health and addiction issues and families of Aboriginal ancestry.

Hope to see you there.

Due to construction around the Square One Shopping Centre, race organizers of the 2011 Mississauga Marathon/Half Marathonrecently had to implement what is a very slight change to the first 2 km.

Coach Pimm was hired to remeasure the route and apply for re-certification, and is pleased to advise that certification has been granted, so the marathon can serve nicely as a Boston qualifier. So all the best to those going for it !!

Here's a map showing the first 2 km. of the new route.

Associate, Laura Pimm, is now offering sports/therapeutic massage at a new location to better serve the Toronto downtown folks, be they readying themselves for, or recovering from a road race, or for folks just wanting keep the chasis in excellent working order.

The new location is located in the Yorkville district, 100 meters due west of the Four Seasons hotel, on Prince Arthur Avenue.....dangerously close to the finest clothing boutiques, eateries, and shops, that Canada has to offer....yes, and even Winners....

And, if you’re finding this winter a tad too chilling, pamper yourself with Hot Stone therapy....also a great gift idea.

For more information, or to make an appointment, go here.

Hey Runners – For those of you close by to Toronto, who want to test how their winter training has been going, there’s a nice 5 km. opportunity being presented on Sunday March 13, 2011: the 12th Annual Achilles St. Patrick's Day 5K Run/Walk...and, even better, those of you who are of age can enjoy a fine brewsky afterwards  manufactured by Toronto’s own Steam Whistle Brewing company, located at the base of the CN Tower

And while sipping or guzzling your 1 or 4 brews, you can enjoy the fine entertainment of the Birling who’s music includes fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitars, harmonica, all complemented by wonderful singing.

I had the pleasure of measuring this certified fun, 5 km.(map below) which is basically, a flat, out and back route, starting at 10:15 a.m.…..nice to cheer each other while on either side of Wellington and, in keeping with the day, Race Director, Brian McLean, says, “ we always try to encourage our participants to wear green and come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day while having a pint of Steam Whistle beer after your race.”

And it’s all for a terrific cause as the event raises funds for Achilles Canada, a non-rofit organization that provides people with various disabilities an opportunity to receive the physical, psychological and communal benefits of running. The mission of Achilles Canada is to empower athletes, through running or walking, to take control of their health, to increase their self-confidence, to become more involved in the mainstream world, and to reach their full potential.

We’ll drink to that !

Laura with Simon Whitfield
Our associate, Laura Pimm, recently attended the Multisport Canada Triathlon Series Awards Dinner at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club, Nov. 28/10.

Laura was thrilled to receive her award for being an overall category winner (25 to 29 yr.) from Canadian sports icon, Simon Whitfield (2000 Olympic Gold medalist and 2008 Olympic Silver medalist).

It was a terrific gathering, and included a presentation about the latest technical developments in bike design; but highlighted by the ever gracious Whitfield fielding all manner of questions for almost an hour.
